Mother's Day ended last weekend and what a weekend it has been. Work full steam to take the request of šŸŽ‚ & 🌷 ( our first collaboration effort) peaking on Saturday & Sunday itself where had to do delivery 🚚 too. Physically , it was tiring & strenuous Had to stand & šŸƒā€ā™€ļø for 12 hours ā°a day to bake . I ended up with swollen feet and calf šŸ‘£. Need to find some padded foot wear šŸ‘¢

Sometimes if doesn't look good enough and bake well enough , I will redo the process which adds to the time pressure. Fortunately , it does happen too much šŸ˜‡

Here are some of the behind the scenes šŸŽ„

Preparing the 🌈 cake

The rainbow cake requires steady hand as it is built on seven layers . Know the feeling of the architect and builders that did the leaning tower of Pisa . Need to think of some means of helping the cake stand up without toppling over. As you go higher , the structure gets less stable

At the same time as this is a really naked rainbow cake, need to be careful on the trimmings. Don't want to make a mess of it.

Within the cake , it is filled with a lovely mix of grapefruit and orange

I was happy with the end result , given the complexity and the time pressure.

Finishing touches

Doing the final touches can be mind boggling.

Not only the cake need to taste good but it needs to look the part too. Each cake a symbol of a special event. This is even more so for such an important occasion like Mother's Day.

Had to use as much imagination as possible to make each cake look different . Also don't want the look to be over bearing or overwhelming to the cake itself
